The CSL airbox is one of the most common upgrades among BMW M3 E46 enthusiasts, known for both its performance boost and the incredible sound it brings to the car.
For those seeking a similar sound to the CSL airbox without the focus on horsepower gains, Karbonius has developed this S54 airbox. This version offers a simplified alternative to the CSL airbox, delivering a more aggressive engine sound (+12 dB compared to the stock plastic airbox) while providing a stunning appearance and easy installation using the stock elbow and MAF sensor.
No additional hardware or remapping is required.
In terms of power increase, Karbonius’ most recent dyno tests showed a modest +4HP gain compared to the OEM airbox. However, this result falls within the typical 2% margin of error for dyno tests, indicating no significant power increase or loss.
As always, this piece is manufactured entirely from prepreg carbon fiber, cured in an autoclave at the Karbonius facility in Spain, under strict quality standards by their highly skilled team.
